I should know what to do, I do this for a living. But it was my Dad! He has had a degenerative disease for many years, but no one imagines your dad will actually decline, right? With multiple siblings and a complicated medical history, I knew that we needed outside help. I was too close, it was too emotional. I chose Tova because I knew she would make sure to take care of my Dad and his wife’s emotional needs as well as their concrete needs. How could he get the best care as he continues to decline? How could he manage his money so it would last his entire lifespan and his wife will be well cared for? How can Dad lead his plan of care when he has moments of clarity and moments of confusion? We needed outside support that could tune into the complex psycho-social needs of everyone in the story, myself included.
